A Camp Out at Beaver's Bend

We went on a camp out w/ our church to Beaver's Bend in southeast Oklahoma. It was so pretty there! We actually stayed in a cabin, so it's wasn't REALLY a camp out, but it was still fun.

It was very cold, like 40 degrees our first morning there. I had breakfast duty, so Doug was in charge of the boys. Concerned that Aldous might be cold, he put, over Aldous' rockin' skull nightgown, a brown giraffe tee, a pair of pants from another outfit, and red socks. Not showing is the pumpkin hat. ** sigh** He's crying here b/c he doesn't WANT to be a rodeo clown. I feel like that when my clothes don't match, too.

Off for our morning hike. Doug is using the carrier I got for him back in July. He REALLY loves it and uses it all the time now. William loves it, too!

a LOVELY pic of me...Aldous is all wrapped up...see his little pumpkin head??

All snuggled up next to mommy....

Hiking in the woods....

William found the hike to be very relaxing.

William made a lot of friends, and was nice to all of them. The temp became rather pleasant, as you can tell by their clothes.

William exploring the camp

The dog water rocks!!!

We hiked to the little amusement center, where there was a miniature train ride. It was horrifying.

Yay!! We're about to go!!!

William is so excited!!!!

There are also stables and trail rides at this place.

We saw several deer on the train ride. They were still brave since it was a week before hunting season, when they go into hiding.

The walk back to the campground was exhausting for William.

It made Doug tired, too, so they took naps.

While they napped, I amused myself by taking this pic of Aldous, and playing w/ him a bit. Notice he's shed some of the more unusual pieces of clothing.

Doug had steak grilling duty. This requires a particular stance. its effective though, b/c the steak was perfectly done and YUMMY!!!

William found this rock and insisted on tasting it. weird.

LouAnn took a turn w/ Aldous. I'm not sure how Aldous felt about it, but LouAnn seemed to enjoy herself!!

William made some toddler friends, too. He thought this little girl was IT!!

All the toddlers playing nicely together.

William playing with the big boys again. Later he played with them and one of them started yelling" Hey!! Can someone get this baby out of our fort???"

Another beautiful hiking trail.

The views on this hike were outstanding!!!!

Jan's Wedding 10/18/08

One of my very best friends in Greenville got married on the 18th. She married the former minister of my former church (he changed churches the same time as I did: he's in Gainsville and I'm in Dallas!). They are both super nice people and I wish all the best for them and their lives together!

Here is Jan being escorted down the aisle by her son, Keith.

The KISS!! very blurry, though. :(

Presenting husband and wife!!!

yeah!!! A nice pic, with Jan's daughters Ashley and Jaklyn as her attendants.

Doug Plays Softball!!!!

Doug's been playing softball with our church and the team is called the Uuniacs! LOL!!! How silly is that? I don't know what position he plays, but I went to watch him w/ the boys and he's pretty good! He plays pretty aggressively, as do two other players. They do pretty well, too, winning about half the games they play. I'm so proud!!!

Here he is on base, the light blue shirt.

His teammate's son, barking like a dog. He's older than William but a bit smaller. Pretty smart, though. He say "hey!! William!!"

And grumpy ol' William. He was being crazy and running into the parking lot, so he was confined to his stroller. Not happy!!!

Doug in the outfield. It was hard to get good pics of him playing in the dark.

Aldous' First Bath, 10/2/08

Really!! His FIRST bath! He wasn't even bathed at the hospital. :)
I hope they didn't charge us for bathing!!

The tub. I borrowed this fancy tub from my friend Meighan. I have also borrowed her play pen and I'm gonna borrow her Bumbo seat, too. I love Meighan.

Aldous had a death grip on the washrag. It was kind of scary and cold in there.

Waaahh!!! I'm cold and wet!!!

Dallas Zoo, 9/27/08

When Aldous was 9 days old, we went to the Dallas Zoo!! Aldous and I were both there, although there were no pics of us. :(
It's easy for us to go to the zoo...the DART rail has a station AT the entrance to the zoo! it's amazing!! And on our end, we use the cityplace station which is less than a mile from our house. We usually walk, but since I had just given birth, we opted on driving and parking very close by.

William LOVES the train, and each time we ride it, he gets SO excited!! Here he is exclaiming "oh, choo-choo!!" as it approaches. Much of the rail is street level.

This is William's first trip to the zoo, btw, and also his first carousel ride!! It was tricky getting a good picture of it. William chose to ride the giraffe, which did not go up and down. He looked a little dazed for the entire ride and didn't smile.

Here are the biggest tortoises EVER!!

William climbing the fence. He did this a EVERY exhibit...I TOLD Doug not to let him out of the stroller, but did he listen???

Flamingoes.
