Bees and Bluebonnets

We had a swarm of bees come and hang out for a few days on their way to their new home. They took up residence on the rose bush and were fascinating to check on each day while they were there. When bee colonies get crowded, the queen leaves and takes with her a ton of workers and couple of queen wannabes (wanna-BEES???), and they hit the open road looking new digs. They only carry with them enough food for a couple of days, so they spend all their time and energy looking for a home. Within a few days, they're gone!

Later, we took a trip to a local patch of bluebonnets and took William's picture in the, as is the local tradition. He's such ham.
